Every once in awhile, conversations with my son sound as if they were lifted from the script of a sit-com. It probably happens more often than either of us would care to admit, but we're just so used to it that it doesn't seem especially funny at the moment. But then there are days that I get a pretty good belly-laugh out of his responses when I play along. Take for example these quick exchanges that occurred when my son called my cell phone today.
Him (In a slow whisper): "You.... have.... seven..... minutes....."
Me: "To do what?"
Him: "To.... die!"
Me: "Great! I have just enough time to finally jump out of a plane. Seeya!"
Me: "Hello, I'm dead, so I can't speak to you right now."
(long pause)
Him: "Um. Can I leave a message?"
I was still laughing about it at dinner, when he reminded me of another instance a few years ago when he was in fifth grade. He was telling me about what all they were required to do for the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge.
Him: "Well, we had to do push-ups, and sit-ups, and run a mile..."
Me: "Really? What'd you run the mile in?"
Him: " Shoes!"

hysterical :) What a great kid!
One of his strong points: his sense of humor! Definitely!
Yeah, but what kind of shoes?
The kind that you run in. ;)
I absolutely love kids with a sense of humour! Great kid! How old is he?
The quip about running in shoes came early in our life as a father and son, when he was 11.
As I remember some of these funny little conversations, I'll have to remember to write about them.
After all, he'll be 16 in September, and on his own before I know it, right?
